THE Bluebirds have announced a new contract that will see practice take place 100 miles from their hometown.
Barrow AFC have announced a multi-year deal with De La Salle Sports & Social Club in Salford for the use and development of the facility as a training base going forward, starting this pre-season at the end of June.
He says the site offers an excellent existing base for the training of his first team and there are exciting plans to improve the facilities in the future to turn it into a long-term training house. These will be confirmed and announced over the next twelve months.
Sporting director Iain Wood said: “This is real progress for our club.”
“I understand last year was tough, but it gives us an immediate solid base to start pre-season in a great place.
“We can put down our roots here straight away and get the stability we need as a club and we are delighted to be entering into a partnership with such a progressive organisation.
“The planned future improvements will make this a more attractive facility and show our determination to develop the Club’s infrastructure appropriately in the future.”
Greig Aspinall, Secretary of De La Salle FC added: “De La Salle is really delighted and excited about our new partnership.
“We look forward to welcoming Barrow AFC to our club in what is hopefully the start of a long and mutually beneficial relationship.
“This is due to the hard work of our volunteers over the years, which has enabled hundreds of children and adults to play football in a safe environment week after week.
“This partnership, attracting a professional-level club like Barrow AFC, shows the standards we have set, and it will further improve the quality of our grounds and facilities with the additional investment.”
