The Barryton Lilac Festival will feature a variety of community events – The Morning Sun

The Barryton Lilac Festival will bring a wide variety of events, activities and entertainment to downtown Barryton.

The Barryton Lilac Festival is an annual event which takes place the first weekend in June. This year, the festival will take place from Friday June 3 to Sunday June 5.

As part of the Lilac Festival in Downtown Baritone, two churches will be sponsoring the “2 Nights of Spiritual Awakening and 1 Morning of Community Worship” event which will feature local music and speakers.

The June 3 events, sponsored by the Chippewa Lake Community Church, will begin around 6 p.m. and will feature Pastor Roger and Donna Bennett with the Chippewa Lake Music Team.

On June 4 and 5, Barryton Church of God will be sponsoring the event. For June 4, events will begin at 6 p.m. and feature Pastor Mark Robb and the band Alanna Story.

The June 5 events will begin at 10:30 a.m. and feature Pastor Gerald and Veronica Roesly with the Church of God Choir.

In terms of other events for the rest of the Lilac Festival, the schedule is as follows:

Friday, June 3-

  • Garage sales throughout the region
  • Museum visits
  • Chainsaw carving demonstrations
  • Clark the Juggler
  • The marketplace/vendors open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • A sale of books in the library from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Carnival (Native Amusements) Pony Rides / Petting Farm from 4 p.m. to dusk
  • Prince & Princess Competition at the Pavilion before 6 p.m.

Saturday, June 4-

  • Garage sales throughout the region
  • Chainsaw carving demonstrations
  • Clark the Juggler
  • The marketplace/vendors open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • A sale of books in the library from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Farmer’s Market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Farmer’s Market Pavilion
  • Carnival and pony rides from 10 a.m. to dusk
  • The parade line at the elementary school at 10 a.m. The parade begins at 11 a.m. and an obstacle course for junior firefighters will take place after the parade.
  • BBQ Chicken prepared by the Crusin’ Chef at the Farmers Market Pavilion at 11 a.m.
  • Horseshoe throwing contest at 11 a.m. Registration from 10:30 a.m.
  • A Car & Bike Show at Northern Avenue from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Registration for the show begins at 1 p.m. and judging will begin at 3 p.m.
  • Children’s games will be held near the Farmers’ Market Pavilion at 2 p.m.
  • Talent Show at Farmers Market Pavilion at 6 p.m.

Sunday June 5

  • Garage sales throughout the region
  • Chainsaw carving demonstrations
  • Clark the Juggler
  • The marketplace/vendors open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • The 5K race begins at 9 a.m. with registration and pack pickup beginning at 8 a.m. at the Farmers Market Pavilion.
  • Carnival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Bed Race at noon with registration at 11 a.m., from the Farmers Market Pavilion.
