The delta of records | Enjoy the upcoming Christmas events in Upshur County



BUCKHANNON – The holidays have arrived and Upshur County has several holiday events that run through Christmas Day.

Two special events are planned for this Friday, December 3, 2021: Buckhannon’s Christmas Parade and Jaime Jorge’s performance Silent Night, Holy Night. The annual Christmas Parade featuring Santa Claus on a fire truck will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in downtown Buckhannon. Starting at Wendy’s, the parade will pass through town and end at the Buckhannon Fire Station, where there will be festive music and Santa will be available for tours after the parade.

Jaime Jorge will perform a 7 p.m. Christmas concert at the Buckhannon Seventh-day Adventist Church on Brushy Fork Road. Spectators will be able to experience a “renewed sense of hope” as they discover the joy of Christ at Christmas.

Young children across the county will have three events to participate in on December 4th. The Rock Cave Christmas Parade will be held at the Banks District Volunteer Fire Department from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. will take place after the end of the parade at the fire station, including an appearance and meeting with Santa Claus.

The Alton Community Group will be hosting a dinner on Alton Road in French Creek from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The community building will provide meat and bread, asking participants to bring a covered dish and enjoy a good meal with friends.

Sweet-A-Licious invites its guests to come to the Elks Lodge Banquet Hall in Buckhannon at 1 p.m., where The Grinch and Cindy Lou Who will be having a party! Kids can spend an hour with evil old man Mr. Grinch and sweet Cindy Lou. Tickets purchased in advance include a meet and greet, photos, games, a short video clip, and snacks. JR Earl, cartoonist, will be there for an additional $ 5.

A living nativity scene will also be held at Chapel Hill on Wednesday, December 8 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and at the South Buckhannon Mission Church on December 10 at 6 p.m.

On Friday, December 10, Upshur County Schools will be hosting a BU Family Christmas at Buckhannon-Upshur High School from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Admission will be $ 5, which will be used to support the B-UHS Fine Arts Department. Children 3 and under will benefit from free entry. During the event there will be performances by the B-UHS Band, Drumline, Majorettes, Soundwave and the B-UHS Concert Choir. Also available will be artisans, vendors, a silent auction, holiday refreshments and photos with Santa for $ 5.

Friends and families can also take the time to join New Community Church for a visit to Jawbone Park. A Christmas Walk will take place on Sunday, December 12 at 6:30 pm Interactive kiosks for children and families, with snacks and a special visit from Santa Claus, will be available for families to create a wonderful Christmas experience.

The Junior Class Prom Committee is hosting a Merry Christmas Breakfast on Saturday December 18th. The event will take place at 270 BU Drive in Buckhannon from 8:30 am to 10:30 am Food, crafts, games and Santa will be present for the event.
